What is the city coming to? I wanna know all the people who voted for this embesile Kwame Kilpatrick. Did you not see all the harm he brought our city Detroit? That man has done nothing good for this city but bring harm, turmoil, and unemployment. We are in the top 5 of unemployed cities in the entire country because of Kwame. He uses our tax dollars for renting Navigators for his wife, booking luxury hotel rooms for his hoes, taking vacations, and buying jewelry. Lets not forget about the pending murder case he is heavily involved in. He didn't bring the Super Bowl to the city........Mayor Dennis Archer did. He didn't order all the construction to better our roads.......Mayor Dennis Archer did. I am so disgusted that the people who live in Detroit are blind to Kwame's shenanigans. My best friend that lives in Houston even knows how bad an influence he is. How does that make our city look if the whole world knows what kind of man is "leading" us? Hip Hop Mayor my arse!
Fess up........who voted for Kwame Kilpatrick? What you smokin' on?

One thing that you need to know Ladontai is that the mayor has done things for this city. You mean to tell me that you can't see all of these new homes being built? What about Operation Clean up. What about the mayor going back and forth with your governor to lower the high cost of insurance. And you have no right to get mad at the mayor for cutting jobs. Its not his fault. It did not even start with him. Detroit has been in finacial trouble for years. Why do you think that the detroit public schools have torn up books, and desk and are lacking supplies? It is because the city has been in need of money for years. Why do you think that detroit is not like chicago or houston? Its because Detroit does not have the money to build like those cities. If you know anything about your history and to back up what I'm about to say, you can either go on line or go to the library and look at the cities financial history, and learned that Detroit never really fully recovered from the RIOTS of 1967. Our mayor now did not make things much better by the way he was acting during his first term. Now I was not going to vote for the mayor because of how he was acting while in office. But he admitted that he made alot of mistakes and didn't take his seat serious enough and apologized for that. God is a God of second chances and thats why I decided to go ahead and vote for him. It takes a man to admit that he was wrong and to tell the city he was sorry. He received many wake up calls to cause him to change and to think about the type of mayor he was in his first term including the passing away of Rosa Parks. Haven't you ever done wrong and later felt bad about it and wanted forgiveness?? I'm sure we all have been there. We all wanted another chance to make things right. God gave us a chance to repent for our sins so we can have a clean slate once again. So who are you to judge? That makes me angry because african americans are always dogging each other and very non supportive. When someone is not doing right then we just need to support others thats trying to make a difference. If you see that someone like the mayor is acting a fool then instead of dogging him why don't you pray for him. You can't possibly pray for someone asking God to help him take care of this city properly and dog him at the same time. That would be defeating the purpose. We all have made very big mistakes. And if you don't see the mayor doing his part to help the city, just make sure that your doing yours.
Thanks for posting ANONYMOUS. Of course I have noticed all the new homes being built. I drive past most of them every day. Before I knew better, I thought the Mayor was solely responsible. Until my customer revealed to me that he and his partner bought those homes and fixed them up with their OWN personal funds w/o help from the city. They replenished a pretty large portion of East Detroit on their own. So I wouldn't be surprised if other private investors are responsible for other new homes being built around the city.
I am not "mad" at the Mayor for cutting jobs. Job security was never a strongpoint for Detroit like the cities you named. However, it was his decision to cut/lay off city workers. But hey---I guess he gotta do what's necessary, right?
You are right in saying he did not make things better by the way he acted during first term. Yeah, he got in front of camera and apologized for his foolish mistakes. And I am not the one to judge by far. However I know some things that the Mayor HAS and CONTINUES to do that makes me question his apology. One of his close family members has a big mouth and used to tell all his business. God IS a God of second chances and that's exactly why he stayed in office for a second term.
Most of the "good things" that are happening to Detroit were already put into place before he came into office. He's just overseeing the operations and taking credit. This is the term where he can redeem himself. Just like any other human being that makes mistakes, he deserves another chance. God Bless him and our city.
